The Flash film eyes Andy Muschietti to direct

Warner Bros’ upcoming The Flash film might finally have found a director: according to THR, the studio is currently in talks with Andy Muschietti.

The director is best known for helming horror films like ItIt: Chapter Two and Mama. He is one of several horror directors hired by Warner Bros for DC projects, after James Wan (Aquaman), David Sandberg (Shazam!) and Jaume Collet-Serra (the in-development Black Adam film).

Muschietti’s sister and business partner Barbara Muschietti will also join Michael Disco as a producer on the project. Ezra Miller is set to reprise his Justice League role as Barry Allen, AKA the Flash.

The film first came to life when John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein (the writers of Spider-Man: Homecoming and directors of Game Night) started to write drafts of the scripts, but the pair have since moved on voluntarily. Building on their efforts, Miller decided to pen his own script with comics author Grant Morrison and submit it to Warner Bros, but the studio rejected that approach.

Instead, Warners will hire Christina Hodson the write the film’s script, with offers expected to go out shortly. Hodson’s previous scripts include those for Bumblebee and DC’s upcoming Birds Of Prey film.
